He continues to blunder after assembling the most expensive premier league squad in history. He blames everybody--from referees, players, to the Europa league-- but himself for the team's struggles. He continues to court controversy off the pitch--the latest being his sending off to the stands--, while his team toils badly in front of goal. He is Jose Mourinho. Remember the name.
Successful, confident, and arguably proud, Mourinho comes across as a serial winner. Sad tale is the methods used in achieving the dazzling heights of yester-years are proving redundant. He is in danger of being left behind, as the train of dynamism breezes through. His team--Manchester United--are disjointed in their finishing, and cast away from those blazing the trail. Their season is threatening to descend into a farce. This is uncharted territory. The team is journeying down an uncertain route, and Mourinho as the driver, seems to have no directions. Not since 1989 has United started a league campaign this bad--20 points from 13 games. Not since 1980 has United failed to win four home games in a row. Certainly not since the shadows stood on ones feet, have they been so wasteful and woeful in front of goal.
United under Mourinho's watch, are starting to make petty average goalkeepers look like flying angels in between the goalposts. Randolph, Tom Heaton, and Grant Holt, are nowhere near the standard of a Hugo Lloris, or a Gianluigi Buffon, or a Manuel Neuer. Yet the former three came to Old Trafford and seemed impenetrable. Putting that into context, West Ham United conceded three goals at White Hart lane, against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Still same came up against Manchester United, on Saturday, and escaped with a draw, and a goal conceded. Mourinho blames mother luck for his team's abysmal inability to turn dominance into victories, rather than focussing on his team's wastefulness, when presented with golden opportunities. In life, they say, you force your luck.
But be under no illusions, United's current struggle is of their own making, and Mourinho as the captain of the ship should take responsibility. United fans can't afford to keep putting up with the we-gave-it-all talk. Giving it all means sweating hard to ensure presentable chances do not go begging. Not giving the teaming fans sleepless nights as they contemplate how their team lie 11 points behind Chelsea atop the standings. The sooner it ends, the better, as United's title ambition is disappearing into thin air. It starts with Mourinho. Enough of the tantrums and bottle-water kicking its time to have a clear cut philosophy. Mourinho had better drag his team out of this rot. No more excuses. Its now or never.

Surely the jury is duly out on Jose Mourinho. Is he the "special one", or was he "once special"? The future beckons.
